Fires: Fire on balcony - apartment uninhabitable for the time being

A fire broke out on a balcony of an apartment building in Schwerin overnight, causing approximately €100,000 in damage. According to police, the fire spread to the balconies below due to sparks and embers. A total of 14 residents had to temporarily evacuate the building but were uninjured.

The apartment where the fire broke out was initially uninhabitable. The family living there is reportedly staying with neighbors. According to a police spokesperson, the fire did not spread to the apartment. There had been a gassing incident, which filled the apartment with smoke.

Officials are reportedly investigating the arson charge against an unknown person.
