Construction work: Three motorways in NRW closed over the weekend
Motorists through the Ruhr region should expect closures on three motorways over the weekend. Starting Friday evening, the Autobahn GmbH will close the A45 near Schwerte, the A43 near Recklinghausen, and the A42 Rhine Bridge near Duisburg in both directions. The routes are expected to reopen before rush hour on Monday morning (5:00 a.m.).
- The A45 will be closed in both directions at the Westhofen interchange from Friday evening (10:00 p.m.). This is due to the renovation of four bridges at the interchange. Long-distance traffic will be diverted via the motorways in North Rhine-Westphalia.
- The Rhine Bridge near Duisburg-Beeckerwerth will be closed in both directions starting at 9:00 p.m. Traffic heading toward Dortmund will be diverted to the Duisburg-Baerl junction, and traffic heading toward Kamp-Lintfort will be diverted to the Duisburg-Beeck junction. Diversions will be made via the A40, A57, and A59 motorways. During the closures, the bridge's cables will be inspected.
- The Herne interchange (A42) is being expanded to accommodate the six-lane expansion of the A43 between Witten and Marl. This will require the A43 to be completely closed in both directions between the Recklinghausen interchange and Herne-Eickel starting at 9:00 p.m.
